The celebrated and FIFA referee, Janny Sikazwe deserved to be promoted because of his achievements on the international front.
The teacher cum referee was recently promoted to the position of senior education officer at the distance learning headquarters in Lusaka. He is a former teacher at Kapiri Day Secondary School in Kapiri Mposhi of Central province.
Mr. Sikazwe is credited for having officiated the 2016 club World Cup final match between Kashima Football Club and Real Madrid Football Club in which the latter won 4-2. He also officiated at the crucial 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) between Cameroon and Egypt in which the former edged the latter, 2-1 to win the coveted trophy.
The Zambian celebrated referee is among the 3 African referees appointed to officiate at the FIFA South Korea Under 20 World Cup football tournament. The tournament commences on May 20, 2017 and our country is one of the participants. He will also be officiating at the 2018 Russia World Cup tournament. Indeed, this is not a small achievement.
To Sikazwe, I say the sky is not the limit and you deserve the promotion from the Government for your achievements in sport. You have made us proud.
