The United Party for National Development (UPND) in Kabwe district has observed that President Hakainde Hichilema and the ruling party owe the August 2021 general election victory to the Zambian people.
UPND Kabwe District Information and Publicity Secretary (IPS), Isaac Kambunji, said the landslide victory that ushered President Hichilema in power is a demonstration of the character of the people of Zambia.
Mr. Kambunji said this in a press statement made available to ZANIS in Kabwe this morning.
He said the Head of State has so far assembled a credible team of experts to reconstruct the economy.
Mr. Kambunji has therefore pleaded with Zambians to give President Hichilema and the new dawn administration time to deliver on the campaign promises.
And Mr. Kambunji has defended the removal of subsidies from petroleum products saying the money that will be realized from this government decision will benefit the poor majority through free education and employment opportunities.
He said the backlash on the removal of subsidies on fuel is very unfortunate especially that most of the people that are condemning the move were part of the ten years of PF’s misrule, which left a poor economy.
He has since advised the former ruling party to have introspection and explain to the Zambian people how it accumulated US$480 million debt owed to fuel transporters despite the commodity being subsidised.
And Mr. Kambunji has charged that some Zambians play dirty in the manner they provide the so-called checks and balances.
He has questioned the logic by some PF sympathizers condemning the President’s stance of uplifting people’s living standards.
He stated that the President has demonstrated high levels of wisdom, selflessness and truthfulness which should motivate Zambians to support him.
He said PF sympathizers should accept the status quo and move on for them to heal from the shocking defeat they suffered in the August 2021 presidential and general elections.
