As a visionary individual, I have always believed in the importance of thinking outside the box and pushing beyond the boundaries of what is possible. In Zambia, where the need for innovative solutions is great, I have endeavoured to seek beyond the horizon and explore new ideas that can transform our energy landscape.

After learning that’s ZESCO’s Managing Director, Justin Loongo, emphasized the importance of private sector participation in Zambia’s energy transformation. The project could be an attractive opportunity for ZESCO to explore innovative solutions and partnerships.
Growing up, I was fascinated by the night sky and the stars that lit up the universe. Little did I know that this fascination would one day translate into a passion for finding solutions to real-world problems.I have witnessed firsthand the impact of poorly lit roads on road safety, and I have been driven to find a solution.

That’s why I designed a prototype for a groundbreaking energy development strategy aimed at improving energy distribution and reducing nocturnal road traffic accidents.

*The Mechanism:*[ Some information is witheld due to patent agreement]

. *Energy Conversion:* The kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy using advanced technologies such as piezoelectric materials or electromagnetic induction.
. *Energy Storage:* The electrical energy is stored in batteries, which can be used to power streetlights, traffic signals, and other infrastructure.
4. *Energy Conservation:* The system is designed to optimize energy production and conservation, ensuring that energy is generated and stored efficiently.

*Benefits:*

– *Improved Road Safety:* The system can power streetlights and other infrastructure, reducing the risk of accidents and improving visibility on roads.
– *Renewable Energy Source:* The system harnesses kinetic energy, a renewable and sustainable source of energy.
– *Reduced Carbon Footprint:* By reducing reliance on fossil fuels, the system can help reduce Zambia’s carbon footprint and contribute to a cleaner environment.
– *Job Creation:* The project has the potential to create employment opportunities in the energy sector, contributing to Zambia’s economic growth.

My kinetic energy harvesting project aligns perfectly with ZESCO’s current investment plans, particularly their focus on renewable energy and grid modernization. ZESCO is investing $30 million in a 35-megawatt solar plant in Chibombo, part of their broader strategy to diversify energy sources and reduce dependence on hydropower.

– *Renewable Energy Expansion*: ZESCO aims to increase solar capacity to 1,000 MW by 2026, and your kinetic energy harvesting system could contribute to this goal.
– *Grid Modernization*: The project complements ZESCO’s transmission upgrades, such as the 330-kilovolt transmission line between Choma and Kafue West.
– *Energy Diversification*: By harnessing kinetic energy, your project supports ZESCO’s efforts to reduce reliance on hydropower and mitigate climate-related energy shortages.

I believe that this innovation has the potential to transform Zambia’s energy landscape and create opportunities for our youth. I am calling on experts, stakeholders, and anyone passionate about shaping Zambia’s energy future to collaborate and take this idea to the next level.

The human mind is automated to adapt to its surroundings, but it is when we begin to question our position that we discover there is more to life than just settling for the bare minimum. Let us not limit our minds to small talks, but instead, let us think big and see how realistic our ideas are.

Let us work together to harness the power of innovation and create a brighter future for Zambia.
