…Cadres invading land to be arrested – Muchima
By KALOBWE BWALYA
POLICE should arrest UPND cadres criminally trespassing on any land as the new dawn government will not tolerate hooliganism, Lands Minister Elijah Muchima has said.
Mr Muchima said the UPND leadership will not tolerate the unruly behavior which was witnessed among former ruling party cadres to continue in new dawn administration.
He was reacting to revelations that some UPND cadres have allegedly submitted a list for illegal allocation of plots in Kafue park area to the Kitwe City Council (KCC).
Mr Muchima said soon he would be travelling to the Copperbelt because illegal allocation of plots had become rampant especially in Kitwe.
He said cadres just like every other citizen were expected to apply for land once the Ministry of Lands advertise, than them to start disturbing citizens over their hard earned land.
“Such cadres who are going in the name of the party to do wrong things are not cadres but criminals and should be treated as such. Police should quickly move in and arrest anyone implicated in such matters. Therefore, if there is anyone involved in such activities , they should stop forthwith, as I will not entertain it, the law will soon visit them,“ said Mr Muchima.
Mr Muchima said every political party appreciated the role of cadres which they play politically, but that it was not a passport for lawlessness.
He said if lawlessness was not stopped, cadres would continue disturbing the peace of other people who cannot even defend themselves.
