Dear Editor,
Lusaka is the biggest congested and fastest growing city especially in shopping mall constructions and yet none of us seems to have a solutionon how to decongest it!
The entral business district has four main roads – Cairo Road, Cha Cha Cha, Freedom Way and Lumumba and eight avenues cross through – Kalambo, Malasha, Kalundwe, Chiparamba, Nkwazi, Katondo, Katunjira and Ben Bella Roads.
There are only three exists East of the region housing The Executive, Legislative and Judiciary arms of Government: Great East, Church Road and Independence roads. These roads are all the time full of vehicles!
Why can’t we build another layer on top of these roads using Chinese engineers?
I know it is very expensive but we have mineral and natural resources that we can sell and use the money to decongest Lusaka. Unless we have leased our natural heritage to foreigners!
The other day someone from the nation’s planning ministry was babbling that we can relocate the capital city to Ngabwe!
Let’s not just eat and get what we can out of Lusaka and we forget about it, let’s find ways to decongest it!
Enock Mukosha, Lusaka.
