“WHY is Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM in hiding reportedly seeking asylum if he has not committed any crime?” Patriotic Front (PF) member of the Central Committee (MCC) Paul Moonga has questioned.
And Mr. Moonga has challenged UPND national chairperson Mutale Nalumango to tell Zambians a crime which GBM committed for him to hide.
Speaking when she featured on Muvi Television programme dubbed “The Assignment” last Sunday, Ms Nalumango said GBM was not physically available to execute his duty as vice president because the State had instilled fear in him.
Ms. Nalumango divulged that GBM had “strategically went into hiding” for fear that he might be the next victim of incarceration owing to the fact that he was with the UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema during the Mongu presidential motorcade incident.
But Moonga challenged Ms Nalumango to tell Zambians what crime GBM committed for him to be in hiding seeking asylum?
“It only takes a criminal to run away who knows that he has committed a crime. You cannot go into hiding if you know that you are an innocent citizen of Zambia who has right to stay in his own motherland.
“So it only takes a criminal who has committed a felony to run away. If GBM is very innocent there is no need of running away,” he said.
Mr. Moonga said why should GBM ran way when Garry Nkombo, Jack Mwiimbu, Stephen Katuba and the rest where all around if he had not committed any crime.
“Why should GBM be arrested and for what criminal offence has he committed? They should tell us through Nalumango because she knows what crime GBM committed hence for him to run away.
“The whole GBM to run away that he is grandfather he knows the crime he committed. It takes a thief to run away whenever he/she breaks the law because they know they have stolen,” he said.
Mr. Moonga said GBM knew what he did to the Zambian people and the government that was why he was hiding.
“We would also like to know what crime GBM has committed because we do not know what crime GBM committed,” he said.
Mr. Moonga said for Mrs Nalumango to say GBM was hiding meaning she knew that he was a criminal because there was no way someone who was not a criminal could run away.
“Why should someone run away, so they know and Nalumango knows exactly what GBM has done and they know where he is hiding? He has imprisoned himself by running away remember that being under house arrest is as good as being in prison. So GBM has sentenced himself by running away.
“If he can only be talking to his family and party members on phone only then he has imprisoned himself. This government is not after anybody who is clean such will be let to enjoy their citizenship. We are not a government is after arresting anybody because we are a government of laws and let its citizens respect the law of the land,” Mr. Moonga said.
