IN a retail first for Zambia, citizens can now register to vote and confirm or change their polling station at all 45 Shoprite supermarkets nationwide ahead of the 13 August 2026 general elections. This follows a partnership with the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ), making the process more accessible and convenient for customers.
Stores will maintain their normal working hours of 08:00 to 20:00, giving Zambians the flexibility to register at a time that suits them. The service is open to all citizens, including Shoprite employees, and only a valid NRC document is required to register. The entire process lasts less than five minutes.
“As Zambians, we are called upon to participate in our national duty. Making this process easier and more accessible ensures that everyone has the opportunity to participate in our democracy by casting their votes in next year’s general election,” says Charles Bota, General Manager for Shoprite Zambia.
The partnership between Shoprite Zambia and the ECZ ensures that voter registration takes place closer to where people already live, work, and shop, enabling more individuals to participate in the upcoming elections. Registration closes on 26 November 2025.
Voter registration now available at Shoprite stores across Zambia
