GOVERNMENT has released K30 million to facilitate the payment of retirees from the Zambia Postal Services Corporation (ZAMPOST).
The ZAMPOST in 2015 and 2014 retrenched 98 workers due to competition from private entities.
The latest disbursement marks the second phase of payments aimed at settling outstanding dues to former employees.
ZAMPOST Public Relations Manager Mthandazo Masango said the release underscores the government’s commitment to the welfare of retired public servants.
“We wish to inform the public and all stakeholders that Government has released K30 million to facilitate the payment of retirees. Payments will be made on a ‘first to retire, first to be paid’ basis, ensuring a transparent and fair process,” Ms Masango said.
She expressed gratitude to the government for the timely release of funds and extended appreciation to retirees for their patience and dedicated service to the nation.
ZAMPOST, she added, remains committed to keeping stakeholders informed and will provide further updates as subsequent payments are made.
