ZICTA Corporate Communications Manager Hanford Chaaba says recent outages on Airtel’s network have had a negative impact on its subscribers.
As a result, Airtel has been instructed to implement a plan of action to resolve the outages as soon as possible and to follow the timeline set by ZICTA to ensure that it meets its obligations to its subscribers.
He said ZICTA will continue to monitor Airtel’s performance to ensure that the company follows its rules and regulations and the laws governing the telecommunications sector.
He also highlights that ZICTA has a legal mandate, as outlined in Section 6 (f) of the Information and Communications Technologies Act to protect the interests of consumers of electronic communication services.
