DAUGHTERS of Mary Immaculate (DMI) St Eugene University has commended the government for its commitment to improving access to quality tertiary education in the country.

Chancellor Reverend Father Dr Arul Raj, applauded Government for creating an enabling environment for private universities to support its efforts in delivering quality tertiary education in the country. He was speaking during the university’s 14th graduation ceremony in Lusaka yesterday
Dr Raj said DMI University stands ready to work with the government in different sectors.
He also said the university has made significant investment in infrastructure development which has been coupled with the introduction of innovative and market-driven academic programmes that are in line with the country’s development agenda.
Dr Raj said the university appreciates the role played by various regulatory bodies such as Higher Education Authority (HEA) in ensuring that universities operate within the set standards for the betterment of the students and the nation at large.
“In this regard, I am pleased to inform you that the university has been ranked a tier 1 university by the Higher Education society implying that our university can offer programmes up to the PhD level,” said Dr Raj.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Douglas Syakalima, in a speech read byPermanent Secretary Joel Kamoko, said the government believes in human capital development which comes about through training as an important ingredient in the country’s development agenda.
Mr Syakalima said the government stands ready to work with other stakeholders in creating an enabling environment for all to participate in the crusade of empowering the general citizenry with survival skills and knowledge through offering necessary training.
He commended DMI University for supplementing the government’s efforts to train Zambian citizens to serve in various sectors of the economy and assured the learning institution of continued support.
