ENERGY expert Boniface Zulu, has called for investment in underground electric railway system as the solution to congestion in Lusaka.

Mr Zulu says, congestion is a growing concern in Lusaka as the city’s population continues to rise current standing at approximately 3.5 million.
He explains that, the current road network struggles to accommodate the increasing number of vehicles which is leading to increasing congestion.
Mr. Zulu says, the solution to the problem is the construction of underground electric railway system, similar to the successful networks found in cities like Guangzhou, China.
The energy expert adds that, construction of an underground railway, will enable commuters experience shorter travel times which will lead to improved overall productivity and a better work-life balance.
Mr. Zulu highlights that, electric trains produce zero emissions, making them a sustainable alternative to traditional modes of transportation.
He advised that, implementing an underground electric railway system will significantly reduce carbon emissions, contributing to a cleaner and greener city.
