Speaking in an interview with Millenium TV News, Northern Province Deputy Permanent Secretary Lewis Mwape says government will remain committed to purchasing maize on time in line with providing a sustainable food security system for the nation.
Mr. Mwape has also assured farmers in the province that money is readily available for maize purchases and has urged farmers to supply their maize produce to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) as it has been offering a favourable marketing price.
And FRA Provincial Marketing Coordinator Timothy Chanda has stated that government’s timely disbursement of funds has made it easier for the agency to pay out farmers on time ahead of the coming rainy season.
Mr. Chanda explains that every farmer in the province that supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency has been paid their arrears those farmers that may have not come through to provide their credible information.
