GOVERNMENT says religious tourism has the potential to enhance Zambia’s tourism package to local and international tourists.

Minister of Tourism Rodney Sikumba said Zambia is endowed with numerous religious sites suited for tourism. Mr Sikumba said the government is ready to collaborate with stakeholders interested in promoting Religious Tourism.
He said Zambia being a Christian nation, is positioned to pursue Religious Tourism and the Ministry is there to facilitate such ventures.
Mr Sikumba said the Ministry of Tourism, aside many things, is working in conjunction with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to promote tourism by highlighting different tourism activities that the country has to offer.
He explained that the Ministry is maximizing on every opportunity to market the country’s tourism potential, especially when high profile sports personalities visit the country.
The Minister pointed out that the ministry is taking advantage of medical tourism and its best international practices to localize and advance Zambia’s efforts of deepening medical tourism.
Mr Sikumba urged members of the public who are religious and spiritual and have a keen interest in Religious Tourism to take time to explore religious sites around the country. – ZANIS.
