Vice President Mutale Nalumango says both the government and the Chiefs have one agenda which is to develop the country.
Mrs Nalumango said this when she paid a courtesy call on Senior Chief Kasempa of the Kaonde speaking people.
She also noted that the government’s policy is to construct palaces for gazetted chiefs using the increased Constituency Development Fund.
Mrs Nalumango further assured the Chief that the government is committed to working on roads in the area in order to promote trade through enhanced road connectivity.
She said the government through the Public Private Partnership (PPU) would work on roads linking to other countries like the Democratic Republic of Congo, Angola and Namibia adding that this would in turn attract both local and foreign investments.
Meanwhile Chief Kasempa committed that his Royal Establishment shall work with the government to accelerate social and economic development agenda.
Senior Chief Kasempa thanked the United Party for National Development (UPND) administration for the good policies which it had put in place.
“Madam Vice president, my chiefdom just like many other chiefdoms in Zambia have benefited greatly from the good policies of the new dawn administration. The increased CDF is enabling us to witness the construction of palaces for Chief Ingwee Mahanda and myself,’ Chief Kasempa added.
He however appealed to the Vice President to consider upgrading the township roads in the district to bituminous standards.
“I appeal to upgrade the kasempa township roads which include the one leading to my place to be bituminous standards,” Chief Kasempa added.
He also called for the delimitation of the district into three Constituencies adding that the Constituency was currently too big to deliver meaningful development.
He further appealed to the government to consider constructing a district hospital in Kasempa to enhance the delivery of health care services.
And the Senior Chief appealed to the government to speed up the process of giving loans to those farmers who do not benefit from FISP in order to increase maize production.
