The bank has also contributed K150, 000 towards the hosting of this year’s Mutomboko traditional ceremony slated for July 29, 2023, to promote the country’s culture and heritage.
On the merger, Atlas Mara Bank acting Chief Executive Officer Bobbline Cheembela said the institution that would be rebranded to Access Bank Zambia would continue to be relevant to the communities it serves in the country.
The Bank of Zambia recently approved the acquisition of African Banking Corporation Limited
(Atlas Mara) by Access Bank of Zambia Limited and the subsequent merger of the two entities effective March 2023. “The extensive network will even grow bigger as soon as the merging with Access Bank Zambia in the course of this year,” Mr Cheembela said at the handover ceremony of a dummy cheque to the Mutomboko Committee recently in Lusaka.
On the traditional ceremony, Mr Cheembela said the ceremony played a pivotal role in unlocking the untapped tourism potential of Luapula province, advancing financial inclusion, and bolstering social-economic progress.
“Atlas Amara values events that emphasize our diverse culture richness, promote unity and strengthen our collective cultural heritage,” he said. In receiving the cheque, Mutomboko vice chairperson Muma Lumpa said the support from Atlas Mara demonstrated the importance that it attached to the preservation and respect for culture in addition to propelling domestic tourism.
