DEC victimising innocent Zambians
Dear Editor
It is very painful that our law enforcement agencies including and especially the Drug Enforcement Agency will always target the small men and villagers while leaving the huge money launderers to ply their trade with impunity.
Why do they feel so happy to issue statements about villagers caught with cannabis and yet do absolutely nothing when huge amounts of money are externalised by rich people, such as those running Saturnia Pension Fund Menel Management which sent K400million outside the country without the authority of the Minister.
These are the people that DEC should target and not villagers who have used cannabis as their leisure product for many years
In fact many countries including the United States of America have decriminalised social use of cannabis because it has no lasting impact on the person or indeed the nation as compared to alcohol.
The Government should move quickly to decriminalise Dagga because this is an accepted social cohesion bond which has been used by the Zambian people for thousands of years.
Why should DEC target the poor who cannot afford to buy the expensive whiskies and other beverages that openly sold in the shops. The Government should be fair and learn from the developed countries which have allowed their people to use cannabis after realising that it is less harmful than the strong drugs, spirits and beer that have brought about so much suffering in the community because of the open consumption that is allowed.
We must learn to appreciate our culture and all that is stand for rather than looking down on it by continuing to victimise innocent people who have not harmed anybody.

Zambian National Anthem
Dear Editor
The Directive by the Republican President of Zambia Edgar Chagwa Lungu to have all stanzas of our National Anthem is timely and a wakeup call to respect our symbols of national identity.
Since the directive I have attended 3 public gatherings and have observed that very few Zambians can actually sing the full National Anthem confidently. Others are catching up by singing along while checking the lyrics saved on their Gadgets such as Phones and Tablets.
I urge all public, print media institutions to regularly publish leaflets of the full National Anthem.Additionally, the Ministry of General Education must also ensure that all schools in Zambia have a copy of the National Anthem stuck on the walls of each classroom.
This will enable pupils to master the National Anthem.
Furthermore, it is great to see people sharing the National Anthem on Social media such as Whatsapp and Facebook.
With time we shall all stand and sing for Zambia proud and free.

Clinical officers at St. Francis Hospital in Katete not paid for 6months
Dear Editor,
Could our hard working Minister of Health, Dr. Chitalu Chilufya explain as to why newly recruited clinical officers posted at St. Francis hospital in Katete have not been placed on payroll for six months as opposed to teachers and nurses who were employed three months ago.
How would one react if this situation was obtaining in Chinese run hospitals?
Dr. Chilufya, you are hardworking and a result-oriented doctor, we ask for results please.

Congrats new Luanshya DC
Dear Editor
I write to congratulate Joel Chibuye for his appointment as Luanshya District Commissioner.
I also applaud Government for its resolute to appoint people with the capacity of developing this great nation.
The appointment of Joel Chibuye popularly known as Chibs by his foes is very commendable and could not have come at the right time than now.
Chibs is a well nature servant of the people through his vast business association with Ndola and Luanshya residents.
Your appointment and working together with Luanshya Mayor Nathan Chanda should now help the appointing authorities in executing many of the challenges the people of Luanshya are facing.
I urge you to continue being a people’s man and serve the President and the people of Luanshya to the best of your capacity.
Kudos Chibs. Wisdom Muyunda, CHINGOLA
Insure your assets against calamity
Dear Editor,
Many people own assets but very few insure their assets. These assets may include houses, motor vehicles, and land among others.
The assets are important to the owners. This is because they can be converted into cash through selling when need arises.
There is need to insure assets against losses arising from calamities such as fire for instance.
Calamities are unpredictable as they can occur when you least expect them.
To avert calamities notably losses, there is need to insure the assets with insurance companies; the majority of which are in the private sector.
Insurance companies provide different insurance covers to their clients so that they can be protected against any losses incurring. In an event of the calamity happening, the insurance company will compensate the person who has suffered the loss.
This is vital in that the person who has suffered the loss cannot feel much impact.
There are many insurance companies such as ZSIC General Insurance Limited, Madison Insurance Limited, Diamond Insurance Limited, Professional Insurance Limited to mention but a few.
These insurance companies offer flexible terms and conditions suitable to every person’s need.
The low level of people insuring their assets can be attributed to lack of knowledge on the importance of insuring their assets.
On this score, I suggest that insurance companies should take a leading role in sensitising the general public on the need to insure their assets.
However, it is never too late to insure your assets and safeguard them against any calamity. What is certain is that every person is a potential victim of loss arising calamities.
Hence, the need to insure the assets against theft, fire, accidents and other eventualities. Over and above, everyone has the capability to insure his or her assets against some unforeseen calamities.

To whom it may concern
Editor,
Can someone please answer the following questions for me? Is decentralization sustainably viable? Do we have qualified human material and financial resources to run a decentralized system of Government? Is there anywhere in Africa where this has succeeded? Who will curb corruption in councils now that they will be on their own? What did we want to achieve by declaring Zambia a Christian nation?

A message to all
Editor,
When God sent Moses to tell Pharaoh to let his people go, the same God hardened Pharaohs heart so he refused to listen to Hisword. God told him, “I have preserved you for a purpose of seeing my power “God smote the land of Egypt with ten plagues. Finally, God destroyed Pharaoh and his mighty army in the Red Sea, all due to the King’s stubbornness and selfishness of a few surrounding him. A wise king does not entirely rely on the counsel of advisers but on the name of Jesus, the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Ghost. Most Bible Kings like David, Ahasuerus and Nebuchadnezzar had wrong advisers.

Matero MP a disappointment
Editor,
I write this to express my dissatisfaction with the performance of our area MP in Matero, this one could be the worst. I would urge the President to advise him or relieve him of his ministerial position so that he can concentrate on his constituency. The last time we saw him in Zingalume and Barlastone was at the last rally during the campaigns last year.
Worried Matero resident
Chongwe in water crisis
Editor,
The Chongwe Water and Sewerage (CWSC) should aim at providing quality services to its residents. Chongwe is growing at a fast rate and people in the district need their facilities as a matter of life and death. I was disappointed to hear from one officer that we could not be connected because our area had no line. Who creates the lines anyway? Are they waiting for perhaps for President Edgar Lungu to act? Please CWSC ensure applicants of water are provided with water. After all, it won’t be free! Similarly, ZESCO must explain why those who apply for power should be made to wait for six months from the day a person pays.

Directed at Laura Miti
Editor,
“We like butt kissing the Government” .This is what was reported on the Zambia reports headline. My first question is, who are “we”? you further went on to say,” The current crop of Zambians would never have managed to liberate the country from colonial rule”. Are you sure? You said the above because you were upset with the Zambians failing to pressure opposition leader, Hakainde Hichilema’s continued incarceration. Laura, if this was one of the reasons why Zambians would have failed to liberate the country form colonialists then you are right because it is a matter that would have nothing to do with our liberation and people like you who think like this would have been a very serious stumbling block to the fight for freedom.

Chongwe cries for more banks
and ATMs
Editor,
It is so embarrassing to see more than 100 people lining up at the ATM to withdraw cash and worse, if you spend two to three days waiting for the machine to start. If the bank owners can do something because people are traveling a long distance to withdraw money from Chongwe.

Hiding files at Public Service Management Division
Editor,
There is a serious problem at Public Service Management Division. Junior officers with their own personal interests have got a bad trend of hiding other people’s files. I am appealing to the secretary to the Cabinet, Dr. Ronald Msiska to carefully address this issue.
Mr. Husler, NIPA
Let GBM prove he is a man enough
Editor,
I fail to understand why a leader like GBM has gone into hiding. Imagine if we had such type of leaders during our struggle for freedom. We would not have gone too far. Zambia could still have been Northern Rhodesia for all we know. Politics needs leader with a hard skin and courage. Come out GBM and prove you are a man.
Disappointed
