THE Ministry of Health has started the modernization of Ronald Ross Hospital in Mufulira and has also deployed 57 newly-recruited Health personnel to the institution to ensure improved service delivery at the health institution.
The modernization of Ronald Ross Hospital in Kantanshi constituency would include putting up state-of-the-art equipment and machinery like scanners, x-ray machines and computers at the main diagnosis laboratory centre.
Kantanshi Member of Parliament (MP), Anthony Mumba said he was happy that the modernization of the hospital had started.
“As area MP, I must say I am happy that Ronald Ross Hospital is receiving attention now as evidenced by the starting of the modernization exercise which would include putting up state-of-the-art equipment and machinery like scanners, x-ray machines and computers at the main diagnosis laboratory centre.
“This is a positive development and will improve health service delivery at the institution. As MP, I will try my best to deal with challenges facing various areas in the constituency,” Mr Mumba said.
Mr Mumba said, he was happy that, apart from the modernization of the hospital, government had deployed 57 newly recruited health personnel to the institution as part of efforts to beef up staff at the 350 bed capacity institution.
Mr Mumba, who made an impromptu visit to the Hospital on Saturday evening, said he was happy that all departments at Ronald Ross were now operating on a 24 hour basis.
The Kantanshi lawmaker said previously, key departments such as the pharmacy and X-ray units were not operating on weekends and public holidays.
“I am happy that management has listened to the concerns of residents and all key wings at the hospital are now operating at full capacity on a 24 hour basis, unlike the case was previously,” he said.
And Government has finally disbursed over K420, 000 for various renovations at the hospital, while the area MP had pledged K25, 000 from his personal resources towards the on-going works.
The Kantanshi MP was elated that Government had responded to the needs of Mufulira residents who have been yearning for better medical services
