A 33-YEAR-OLD man of Kanyanchi village in Chavuma escaped death after he fought and freed himself from the jaws of a crocodile that attacked him on Sunday around 14.30 hours.
North Western Commissioner of Police Auxensio Daka confirmed the incident to the Daily Nation and named the survivor as Boyd Funga.
Mr Daka said Mr Funga was taking a bath in the Zambezi River when the reptile pounced on him.
“It has left him with a wound on the right part of the chest and on the left leg and several scratches on the right leg,” he said.
He however said Mr Funga was out of danger and was admitted to Chavuma Mission Hospital.
Meanwhile, two suspects have been arrested in connection with the defilement of a 15-year-old girl of Magrade Township in Solwezi early this month.
Mr Daka said one of two the suspects whose names have been withheld has been released on police bond while the other one was still in custody.
