By GRACE CHAILE DIRECTOR of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Gilbert Phiri has stated that the newly introduced Mobile Courts pilot project are aiming to address the issue of prison and correctional facility overcrowding, which currently stands at 300 percent beyond capacity. Mr Phiri disclosed that as of Wednesday, correctional facilities housed 28,000 inmates, despite having a holding capacity of only 9,150. “This is a dire situation that cannot be ignored.
