By NATION REPORTER THE Constitutional Court has scheduled a hearing for January 14, 2025, to deliberate on an application filed by governance activist Isaac Mwanza seeking to restrain the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) from conducting the Petauke Central by-election until a petition is determined. At the centre of the controversy is the Petauke Central Parliamentary seat, held by fugitive Emmanuel Jay Banda. Mr Banda’s absence from parliamentary sittings without permission since August 4, 2024, led to the National Assembly declaring his seat vacant.
