IT is surprising how the new dawn administration appears to go over the moon when it contracts loans from the International Monetary Fund and its affiliate the World Bank. It says it is a mark of approval for the government’s economic programme that it is on the right trajectory. President Hakainde Hichilema thinks this “endorsement” marks the country’s entry into the “Champions League. His Finance and National Planning Minister Musokotwane Situmbeko agrees with him. But they do not explain the sinister motives behind such support as Yusuf Dodia, the chairperson of the Private Sector Development Association has. It is important that Zambians pay attention to his observations on the nature of the so-called support.
