By GIDEON NYENDWA THE Zambia Compulsory Standards Agency (ZCSA) has commenced its 2024 national Open Market Surveillance (OMS) inspections in nine provinces of Zambia to check compliance levels on 61 products covered by Compulsory Standards. ZCSA acting manager, Brian Hatyoka says the exercise was covering locally manufactured and imported food products, beverages, animal feed, chemical, and engineering products, household electrical and similar appliances, fertiliser and used textile products, among others, in Eastern, Central, Lusaka, Southern, Western, Copperbelt, North-Western, Muchinga and Northern provinces. Mr Hatyoka said during the activity which would run from November 11, 2024 to November 25, 2024, non-compliant products will be seized, withdrawn from the market and destroyed in line with Section 16 4(b) of the Compulsory Standards Act No. 3 of 2017 in a bid to protect consumers and the environment. He said the exercise will also assist the Agency to identify new and unregistered suppliers of products covered by compulsory standards. […]
