By NAMO PHIRIGovernment should invoke the 2011 Liquor Licencing Act to ban bars operating near hospitals, schools and churches, former Resident Doctors Association of Zambia President Brian Sampa has charged.Dr Sampa says the Act clearly stipulates that no bar will be allowed to operate from the three areas.Dr Sampa says from the time the Act was enacted, it has never been enforced which is a source of concern.In an interview, he says there is need to ensure that the Act is enforced so that sanity can prevail in the restricted areas.Dr Sampa said it has been observed that bars have been operating especially at universities and colleges, and near church buildings which is against the law.Dr Sampa says he has since written to the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development to ensure that the Act is enforced so that no illegalities are allowed at the near the said areas.Meanwhile Dr Sampa says the Ban […]
