ZAMBIA’S former ambassador to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union Emmanuel Mwamba has challenged the government to tell the nation where the money for salaries for the newly recruited teachers will come from.Mr. Mwamba said it would not be possible for the newly recruited teachers to be placed on the payroll this year as they would only be catered for in the 2023 national budget. He said it was a known fact that what was provided for in the 2022 national budget was money for the recruitment exercise and not the emoluments.Mr Mwamba said it was important for the government to give a clear guidance on the matter.Finance and National Planning Minister Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane has assured the nation that are funds available to pay salaries to the newly recruited teachers.
