By KALUNGA MWAPEIT is important to come up with a law that allows private individuals doing business with the state go through lifestyle audits to ensure the government is dealing with credible people, the Ministry of Justice has said.Justice Minister Mulambo Haimbe said this was important because the private sector is a key player in the management and use of public resources.Mr Haimbe said having a law that allowed individuals doing business with the government to be audited would help it not to do business with people that may engage themselves in illegal activities or facilitate corrupt activities.He said this would also help the government benefit from returns of contracts from the private sector.Mr Haimbe added that the law did not adequately address this issue hence the need to change it so that both public officers as well as the private sector go through audits.
