By ANDREW MUKOMATRADITIONAL leaders have been praised for playing a positive role in fostering development in the country.Mazabuka District Commissioner Oliver Mulomba has paid tribute to traditional leaders and said that Government recognized Chiefs as partners in development, adding that peaceful succession of leadership in the Chiefdoms is important to this partnership.Speaking during the installation of John Hamwenzu Mweemba as new Chief Hanjalika of the Tonga speaking people of Mazabuka District at a ceremony held in Mazabuka, Mr Mulomba praised the Bansanje Royal Establishment for handling the succession issue without any disputes.At the same event, Magoye Member of Parliament, Mweemba Malambo, said that government cannot achieve meaningful development of reducing poverty without the involvement of traditional leaders.Mr Malambo therefore said that traditional leaders are key stakeholders in fostering development through culture as they are closer to the grassroots.And the Bansanje Royal Establishment has thanked Government for administrative and material support that was rendered to during […]
