By BUUMBA CHIMBULUZAMBIA Airways (2014) Limited has appointed Abiy Asrat Jiru, an Ethiopian as its new chief executive officer effect January 14, 2022.Zambia Airways board chairman, Bonaventure Mutale, indicated that Mr Asrat Jiru’s contact would end in March 31, 2024 when the five-year mandate for Ethiopian Airline Group to appoint the initial chief executive office expires.In a statement issued in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Mutale stated that the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) would thereafter appoint a Zambian executive officer.Mr Mutale acknowledged the pivotal role that the ongoing chief executive officer played in ensuring that the airline took to the skies.
