By Makokwa Clara MuyendekwaSouthern Province Education officer Florence Chikalekale says the recently pronounced teacher recruitment will improve the pupil, teacher ratio in the province.She said the 30, 000 teachers to be recruited will also help in proving education service delivery in the province.“This number will help us especially in rural schools because these are the areas that are most affected by having a less number of teachers,” Ms Chikalekale said.She explained that the move by government is welcome as most of these teachers will also increase the possibility of pupils interacting more with teachers as the ratio will be improved.Meanwhile the Basic Teachers’ Union says most rural schools are highly affected as they just have one or two trained teachers against a large population of pupils.Southern Province Director Basil Hibajene suggested that a huge number of the teachers to be recruited must be sent to rural schools.He however, explained that most teachers are not interested […]
