CHAMA TO APPLY FOR HABEAS CORPUSBy SIMON MUNTEMBAWE will have no option but apply for habeas corpus at Livingstone High Court for unlawful continued detention of PF vice national chairperson, Davis Chama and his co-charged Brian Nyoni on Monday, Tutwa Ngulube has said.Mr Ngulube, who is the duo’s lawyer, told the Daily Nation that since the police have defied with impunity President Hakainde Hichilema’s pronouncement that no one should be detained for more than 48 hours for bondable offences, the detained co-accused would seek court intervention.“Since it seems the President’s pronouncement is mere political rhetoric, we will apply for habeas corpus on Monday. The police have defied President Hichilema’s directive with impunity. They are even saying no one can tell them what to do.
