By GRACE CHAILE LESOETSATASILA Lungu has told the Lusaka High Court that she was duly elected as Chawama Member of Parliament and denied being involved in election malpractices.Ms Lungu urged the court not to grant losing UPND candidate Portipher Temboany of the reliefs he is seeking in his petition as the August 12 election was free and fair.This is a matter where Mr Tembo has petitioned the election of Ms Lungu, asking the court to nullify the seat alleging threats and violence to life and property, including rampant physical attacks, sexual assault and rape on members of the UPND and other members of the general public.She is also alleged to have distributed cooking oil and mealie meal to voters on the eve of the election day.In her defence before Judge Kazimbe Chenda, Ms Lungu described the allegations as false, stating that the election results were a reflection of the people’s voice.She denied ever sending her agents to attack Mr Tembo.She stated that the high voter turnout was evidence that the people were not […]
