By BUUMBA CHIMBULUABOUT 656 savings groups have been established in Luapula province with the help of Financial Sector Deepening (FSD) Zambia.The groups were established last year under the Financial Inclusion through Traditional Leaders (FIT) project, says FSD Zambia Board Chairman, Caleb Fundanga.Dr Fundanga said at a media briefing that the savings groups had a membership of 33,823, with over 80 per cent of them being women in Luapula province.“There are plans to expand the project to other part of the country. Eastern Province traditional leaders have reached out to FSD Zambia wishing to do similar works that their counterparts in Luapula are doing.“We will continue to design interventions that respond to our end clients new unique needs,” he said.Giving highlights to the preliminary results for the fiscal year 2020/21, Dr Fundanga said at the end of the financial year, about 83 percent of the FSD Zambia clients were reported to be financially healthyHe said in […]
