By SANFROSSA MANYINDASOME miners employed by contractors at Konkola Copper Mines (KCM) in Chingola have continued with their protest demanding improved conditions of service.The workers who begun their protest on Tuesday morning at Watson Stadium want salary increments and normal working hours.The workers had also issued a 72-hour ultimatum to KCM management to address their grievances.On Tuesday, 20 of the protesting workers were arrested by police after they refused to disperse. The workers said they would only resume work after their conditions have been met by KCM management.They told Nchanga Member of Parliament Chali Chilombo who went to meet them that the gap in salaries between them and expatriate workers was too wide, a situation they said was unfair to the locals.Mr Chilombo who addressed the workers after they went to his constituency office assured them that he would call for a meeting which would involve all parties.
