By OLIVER SAMBOKO PARLIAMENT yesterday adopted the report of the Committee on Youth, Sport and Child Matters, which among other things seeks to stiffen the country’s laws on Child abuse and defilement. Presenting the report which was first laid on the table of the House on March 26, 2021, committee chairperson who is also UPND Kalabo MP Chinga Miyutu informed the house that there is need for fast tracking sexual violence cases including rape and defilement. He said the speedy disposal of cases involving sexually abused children helps the victim to begin the healing process quickly. Mr Miyutu also said the fast track courts designed to specifically deal with sexual offences will greatly reduce the anxiety suffered by victims as they would go through the court process in a relatively short period of time.
