The heightened pressure comes despite Lusaka Province Police Commissioner, Nelson Phiri, directing the District Traffic Officer to immediately launch investigations into the matter. Bishops Council of Zambia (BCZ) Secretary General, Able Kaela, said the church had been following the matter with keen interest and was shocked at the behaviour of officers. He has demanded for the prosecution of the negligent officers. The police officers are reportedly shielding the owner of the vehicle, a blue Toyota Corolla registration number AJB 4293 which had hit into the car Mr Njovu was in because he is allegedly related to a senior police officer.
