In an interview with the Daily Nation, Mushindamo District Commissioner, Benson Ngambo, said the identified households would be entitled to cash payments every month from government. Mr. Ngambo urged the beneficiaries to put the monies to good use. ‘’Yes, our target is 2,300 beneficiaries and so far we are done with about 600 who have already been paid,’’ Mr Ngambo said. He said government was implementing numerous developmental programmes in the district aimed at uplifting peoples’ livelihoods. Government has since increased the social cash transfer fund from K302 million in 2016 to K717 Million in 2017. The social cash transfer aims to improve the standard of living in the most impoverished households, especially those facing the greatest challenges in exiting poverty.
