Sun, 07 Jan 2018 13:08:31 +0000 By KALOBWE BWALYA LUSAKA’s National Heroes stadium has been converted into a cholera centre for adults and to allow for the increasing number of cholera patients to be accommodated there, Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya has disclosed. Speaking during a joint media briefing in Lusaka yesterday, Dr Chilufya said pediatric cases would be managed from Matero first level hospital and that the measure was aimed at decentralising treatment and enhancing efficiency. Dr Chilufya said this would make it easy to harness and deploy manpower in one area where all interventions would effectively be harmonised for maximum delivery. Dr Chilufya said this would also help reduce the number of cholera treatment centres and the possibility of cross-contamination at various treatment centres. Dr Chilufya said Ministry of Health will continue utilising first levels hospitals in the sub –districts in Lusaka as stabilisation zones before cholera patients were transferred to Heroes stadium.
