Sat, 30 Dec 2017 12:50:48 +0000 PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu should intervene in the fight against Armyworms just like he did last year, says Zambia Republican Party (ZRP) president Wright Musoma In 2016 Mr Lungu called in the Zambia Air Force (ZAF) to help contain an invasion of armyworms in maize fields. Military planes flew pesticides to the worst-affected areas so that crops could be sprayed as a matter of urgency. Mr. Musoma also said it did not make any sense that up to now, some farmers had not received inputs under the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP) through the Electronic Voucher initiative, when the country was expected to be working towards curtailing the army worms. He said despite experts predicting an invasion, the Ministry of Agriculture did not prepare for the impending disaster.
