By MULENGA MUSONDAA 20-YEAR-OLD man pleaded not guilty to one count of trafficking in over 55gms of marijuana in the Choma Magistrate’s Court.This is in a matter in which Smith Chikomo, a resident of Choma’s Kamunza Township has been dragged to court on allegations that he was trafficking in psychotropic substances contrary to the Laws of Zambia. Allegations are that Chikomo on March 30, 2020 in Choma trafficked in 59.1 grams of marijuana, a herbal product of Cannabis Sativa without lawful authority or medical recommendation.When he appeared for plea before Magistrate Muyambango Munukayumbwa, he denied the allegation made against him.Court: Have you understood the charge read against you?Chikomo: YesCourt: How do you plead?Chikomo: Not guiltyMagistrate Munukayumbwa recorded a plea of not guilty and adjourned the matter to April 20, 2020 for trial.Chikomo was remanded in custody as the offence is non bailable.
