When the matter came up for trial before senior chief resident magistrate Irene Whishimanga yesterday, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge of defilement. Perry Sikazwe, 20, is facing one count of defilement contrary to the laws of Zambia. It is alleged that on September 6 2017 in Lusaka, Sikazwe had unlawful carnal knowledge of a girl under the age of 16. The eight-year-old girl told the court that her uncle had been sexually abusing her from the time he came to the house. According to a statement the victim gave to the police, the accused had been having carnal knowledge of her since he came to the house.
