Mon, 25 Sep 2017 13:00:16 +0000 By John Kombe A 67-YEAR-OLD man of Chongwe drowned in Chongwe River on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as Mr. Mwanza was reported to have gone missing in the early hours of September 17. His body was found floating in Chongwe river by passersby who alerted the police. The police and fire brigade retrieved the body of Mr Mwanza much to the shock of his family members. Area councillor, Mr. Juvenalis Mulimbika who also confirmed the incident, expressed concern to the Daily Nation because many lives had been lost in a similar manner. Mr Mulimbika observed that most fatalities happened when the water levels were low. “People underestimate the depth of the river and try to have a bath, swim or even catch fish, this is how some of them meet their fate.” Mr Mwanza has since been put to rest.
