North Western deputy commissioner of police Chola Katanga said the accident occurred between Tuesday and Wednesday around 05:00 hours in the Kashima East area along the Mutanda-Chavuma road. Mr Katanga said Mr Benson Kanshimba was hit by a vehicle while crossing the road. “We recorded a hit and run accident in Mufumbwe district and the driver is believed to have been driving from East to West,’’ he said. He explained that due to the impact of the accident the victim died on the spot. “The victim sustained multiple cuts on the head and the body has since been deposited in Mufumbwe District Hospital awaiting post-mortem,’’ he said.
