Thu, 07 Feb 2013 15:46:35 +0000 The total debt owed by the defunct Zambian Airways to public institutions now stands in excess of K130 Billion. The debt to Development Bank of Zambia has now more than doubled from K14 billion to K30 billion inclusive of capital. The full amounts are owed to Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), National Airports Corporation (NAC) National Pensions Authority (NAPSA) and the Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) and other trade debtors. The defunct airline was owned by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito and his brother Nchima and Post Newspapers editor Fred M’membe. Efforts to recover the tax payers money are now before the courts of law after attempts to evade the debts by trio attracted serious on-going legal battles. The civil society organisations too have thrown their weight behind the matter to ensure that every ngwee owed to Zambians is recovered and channeled to national development efforts.
