Media Leaders Pledge to #AccelerateAction on Gender Equality for IWD 2025, Call on Peers to Do the Same To mark International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025, themed #AccelerateAction, members of the WAN-IFRA WIN Guild—a collective of top editors and publishers from the Women in News (WIN) community—have committed to a series of actions to drive gender equality in newsroom leadership. This pledge responds to WAN-IFRA WIN’s findings that: Fewer than 1 in 5 CEO/Publisher roles worldwide are held by women. Just under 1 in 3 Editor-in-Chief/Editorial Director positions are occupied by women. Guild Members’ Commitments Collective Actions: 1. Mainstream mentorship programs within organizations, leveraging best practices. 2. Use collective influence to eliminate biased portrayals of women in the media. 3.
