By NATION REPORTER ZAMBIANS are paying twice the price of fuel compared to Malawians on account of opaque and uncompetitive bidding procurement system. Motorists in Malawi pay the equivalent of K17 per litre for fuel obtained from the same source, Dr Kafula Mubanga the Oil Marketing Companies president has revealed. “If competition was allowed the price of fuel would be in the range of K20 to K22 per liter and not what it is now.” He said.
