By BUUMBA CHIMBULU TO expand Zambia’s energy portfolio, the World Bank has announced a US$292 million new financing grant for the country which will be accessed through a fresh project. An initiative called the Zambia – Tanzania Interconnector Project (ZTIP) would enable Zambia access more sustainable and affordable energy to power its economy and boost job creation. The ZTIP project complemented regional and national efforts to address the long-term sustainability of the energy sector and support universal access to electricity.
