By GRACE CHAILE ZAMBIA’s three main church mother bodies have opposed a petition by civil rights activist, Isaac Mwanza, who is seeking that the court should decriminalise same-sex relationships, arguing that the country’s Christian nation declaration considers such acts abominable and sacrilegious. The Zambia Conference of Catholic Bishops (ZCCB), Council of Churches in Zambia (CCZ), and Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) submitted to the Constitutional Court that Section 155(C) of the Penal Code Act, which outlaws “unnatural offences” or “sex against the order of nature,” is constitutional.
