By MUKWIMA CHILALA ECONOMIC analyst Patrick Mwape has expressed scepticism about the country’s economy rebounding in 2025, despite ongoing investments in the mining sector, stating that such investments are long-term and may take time to yield tangible results. This comes in response to Finance and National Planning Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane’s projection of an economic boom starting in 2024, driven by substantial investments in the mining sector. However, Mr. Mwape notes that challenges such as the current energy crisis and the lingering effects of drought have negatively impacted production levels in the country, making an immediate economic resurgence unlikely, especially in the first quarter of 2025. He says Inflation is expected to increase in the first quarter as nothing significant has happened to the economy.
