By Nation ReporterPOLICE have confirmed that they demanded for a certificate of registration from the New Heritage Party (NHP) as a condition to consider its notification to hold a mass rally in Lusaka’s sprawling Mandevu Township.But Chishala Kateka, the NHP president has expressed shock that the Zambia Police has started demanding certificates of registration from political parties intending to hold public rallies, stating that the act is in total contravention of the Public Order Act which stipulates that only a notification is required for parties to hold their political rallies.Ms Kateka, one of the 2021 presidential election contestants says it is against the law and violation of her constitutional rights that Police could demand for a certificate of registration of her party before it could consider to acknowledge their notification to hold a mass rally CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
