ZAMBIANS should take the front seat in trying to appreciate the tourism sites so that we can market them to the rest of the world, Information and Media Minister Cornelius Mweetwa has said.

Mr Mweetwa said local people need to treasure Zambia’s culture and heritage.
Mr Mwetwa said it was shocking to see that out of 18 million Zambians, only a few had taken interest to visit tourism sites across the country.
He said no one could market the tourism sites in Zambia if the locals were unwilling to promote their own tourism industry.
Mr Mweetwa indicated that more foreigners had been to tourism sites than the local people which should not be the case.
Mr Mweetwa was speaking yesterday when he visited one of the tourist sites in China where he had gone for an official visit.
“In Zambia for instance, we are talking about 18 million people and how many have been to Livingstone to view the Victoria Falls. We see that there more foreigners who have been to our tourist attractions than the local people. It is high time we realise that tourism is a product for both local people and foreigners. We the local people should take the front seat in trying to appreciate what we have so that we can market to the rest of the world,” Mr Mweetwa said.
