By MUMBUA NDUNGITHE Independent Churches of Zambia (ICOZ) has expressed concern over the increase in the number of married couples seeking divorce.The country has continued to record an increase in couples seeking divorce with over 30, 000 cases recorded in 2022, compared to over 21, 000 cases, which reported in 2021.ICOZ president David Masupa said in an interview the increasing number of divorce cases required the intervention of the church.“We need to step up efforts by ensuing that we break the conventional way of conducting our church programmes,” Bishop Masupa said.He also said it was important for the church to adopt and prioritise critical social programmes on divorce.Bishop Masupa said reversing the increase in the number of divorce cases should not be left to the church alone but required the concerted efforts of all stakeholders.
